Wofford was defeated mostly because of his vote to ban assault weapons, a move that upset a number of rural and other Pennsylvanians who replaced him with Rick Santorum. As for Joe Sestak, he has a good record in Congress, but he too carries many moderate views. And against Pat Toomey, he would be less than an odds on favorite. I appreciate the idea of looking for pure liberal views from our politicians but sadly, we just don't live in a world where that kind of purity can survive the polluted atmosphere of American politics.
