You be the judge: I will be taking the DoD to small claims court this Friday….

November 5, 2008

by Jane Stillwater http://jpstillwater.blogspot.com

“Jane!  Why the freak are you taking the Department of Defense to small claims court?” you might well ask.  “After all those times that they’ve been so nice to you and let you embed in Iraq four-and-a-half times, this is the thanks that they get?  WHY are you biting the hand that feeds you?”

I seem to be asking myself the same question. Read more

Of Words, Terms and Queers

November 2, 2008

by Harlan Bennett

For the last several years, there’s been a not-so-quiet revolution going on in America, revolving around civil rights for the GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender) community, addressing, for the most part, the right to marry with a state-issued marriage license. This time around, however, just as the Religious Reichians© were all geared up to start that particular stupid and pointless debate up again, the economy cratered, and they had to turn their attention to something a lot more important than the right of queers to (GASP! SHUDDER!) get legally MARRIED. Read more

An Open Letter to President George W. Bush

October 29, 2008

From Robert A. Letcher, PhD

President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, DC 20500

Mr. Bush (or whoever reads this for/to you):

For many months, I have been searching for words to convey my contempt for you, without giving you reason to have me sent to Guantanamo for waterboarding (not that you’d need a reason, apparently). Read more

The Ugly Underside of an Ugly Underside

October 22, 2008

by George Thomas

Talk about concussion patients beating their heads against a wall!

Whole industries and trade relations were established around it.  Once, when wars were fought largely between societies of different language and culture, the victorious side took slaves from among the beaten.  It has always been a matter of us vs. them.  Drive into many small towns in your own country and observe the suspicious stares, or the studied averting of eyes as the guy at the gas station takes his time giving the outsider his change. Joe the Plumber – Get a Plunger

October 18, 2008

by Norla Antinoro

We met the new poster boy for the Republican Party last night and he’s quite a hunk.  Let’s call him Joe the Plumber.  Why not, everybody else is.  JoeTP is the Great White Hope for the Republican Party and he’s looking to land a knock-out punch.  Like his hero, John McCain, JoeTP flies a false flag.  A flag of convenience.  A flag of disguise.  He claims to be an undecided voter and refuses to say whether he is registered as a Democrat or Republican.  But he’s selling straight McCain. The core truth of the Branchflower report on Palin reaches print

October 15, 2008

by Frank Smith, Bluff City, KS

At last! The core issue about Palin’s supposed “exoneration” appears in print. Not only was Palin not exonerated, she was clearly guilty of abuse of her powers as governor.

I’ve been writing for days trying to get anyone in the media to mention the salient fact that not only does the report not exonerate Palin, the investigator states that he could not complete the investigation because of the stonewalling. There were 10 high-level members of her administration that refused to testify or ignored subpoenas. Read more

Letting Go, Part Two: The Morning After

October 14, 2008

by Joan Brunwasser

This morning, we got up early to take our son, Michael, to the airport. I am now, officially, an Empty Nester.  Inquiring minds – AKA family and friends – have been asking how I’m faring.  Give me two minutes and you’ll be able to judge for yourself. Read more

Rants from the Fire and Ice Podium - The Voice of Misanthropy on the Left
Dear Granny Palin and Grandpa McSame,
by Maggie Richards

You two really make me gag lately. McSame, it’s bad enough to be constantly hit with pictures of your creepy looking face & your robotic movements but you add insult to injury by trying to incite race riots against Obama. Read more
